Weddings at North Beach Plantation: They’ll Remember the Food

At North Beach Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, you can expect the highest quality food with restaurant-style service—no bland buffets. In fact, the food at North Beach Plantation is so good, it won’t even seem like “wedding food.”

“Typically, our guests think our food is better than expected. There are so many good choices, and it’s all made fresh onsite. It’s a gorgeous place, and people love that, but the food is so good it gets people coming back. It makes a big difference,” said John Mungavin, property and event sales director for Events at North Beach.

Each menu wedding at North Beach is totally customized to the bride and groom. If you have a favorite food item from childhood or a dish that represents your culture, just ask. Our expert chefs love to work with a couple to create the perfect menu.

Mungavin said the chefs at North Beach Plantation are incredibly talented. Chef Richard Maurer is the Executive Chef of the property and has been with North Beach Plantation for more than 15 years. Chef Lou Petrozza is the Chef of 21 Main at North Beach.

You may have heard of Chef Lou from the TV show “Hells Kitchen;” Lou was a season four finalist. 21 Main recently won the Taste of the Town’s top award for Best Entrée and also took home all three first place trophies for its lobster bisque.

In addition to the delicious soups, some of the most popular food items chosen by couples getting married at Myrtle Beach’s North Beach Plantation are the hors d’oeuvres.

“We get raves about our crab cakes New Orleans,” Mungavin said. Other options include hand-rolled fresh sushi, Tuscan-style antipasto, and miniature chicken cordon bleu. Main course offerings may include prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and green bean bundles or crispy shrimp and salmon with a spicy ginger glaze with shitake mushrooms, snap peas, and sticky rice.

The only food items that North Beach Plantation doesn’t make onsite are wedding cakes, though they do make other desserts, like cheesecakes. But if you need a wedding cake recommendation, just call John Mungavin. He’s seen quite a few weddings, and has some favorites. He’d be happy to help you pick the best choice for your wedding.
