As those of us who are active on Instagram know, a vacation isn’t complete until we’ve hit our destination’s hottest spots, snapped a few awesome photos and documented the entire adventure on our favorite social network. And on the Grand Strand, of course, there are plenty of opportunities to snap some great pics in places that are so iconic and/or beautiful, that no caption or filter is needed.

During your next visit to the beautiful South Carolina coast, grab yourself a comfortable room at North Beach Plantation on the North Myrtle Beach oceanfront, then head out to snag some selfies in these 8 signature Grand Strand locales:

2nd Avenue Pier — At 900 feet long, this landmark pier located near the southern terminus of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk offers visitors a chance to venture farther out into the Atlantic Ocean than they can anywhere else on the Grand Strand (without getting wet or taking a boat or plane, that is). Once at the end, spectacular views of the ocean, the beach and the city skyline are in store.

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk — Speaking of the Boardwalk, this picturesque, 1.2-mile wooden walkway runs right along the Myrtle Beach oceanfront from Pier 14 at 14th Avenue North to the 2nd Avenue Pier at 2nd Avenue North. Beautiful views abound all along the way.

Myrtle Beach Sunrise — Take a stroll along the Boardwalk or beach early in the morning, and it’ll be hard not to look toward the sun rising over the Atlantic waters to the east. The pictures are irresistible, too.

Myrtle Beach SkyWheel — This iconic, 187-foot-tall Ferris wheel dominates the downtown skyline, not to mention the Instagram pages of vacationing visitors. Hop on one of the SkyWheel’s 42 glass-enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas to get a bird’s-eye view of the Boardwalk, the coastline, the ocean and downtown Myrtle Beach — and to snap some amazing photos.

Broadway at the Beach — This Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment hot spot offers over 20 restaurants and 100-plus specialty retail shops and other attractions, all set around the 23-acre Lake Broadway. Spots for unique photos abound — among them are in front of the upside-down building that houses WonderWorks, the giant neon guitar that marks the entrance to the Hard Rock Cafe and the Hollywood Wax Museum with King Kong scaling a skyscraper atop its roof.

Barefoot Landing — Photo ops at this North Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment complex include a waterfront shot on the Intracoastal Waterway at new restaurant/attraction Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s, a photo alongside the retail complex’s centerpiece 27-acre lake (or over it on one of the multiple wooden walkways spanning the lake), or an image with spectacular fireworks in the background at one of the all-summer-long Monday-night fireworks shows.

Murrells Inlet MarshWalk — Head to the southern end of the Grand Strand to soak up some Lowcountry scenery and snap a photo along the MarshWalk, a half-mile wooden boardwalk that overlooks a salt marsh in the historic fishing village of Murrells Inlet. While you’re there, grab some grub at one of the eight excellent eateries on the boardwalk — the food’s so good, you might even want to post a picture of your meal, too.

Tin Roof Patio — Located just steps from the Atlantic Ocean and the northern terminus of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, new Myrtle Beach music venue Tin Roof is situated in quite the sweet spot for great photo backgrounds. And the venue’s open-air patio, which sits on a lofty third-floor perch between Tin Roof’s live-music room and DJ-hosting Green Room, provides ocean breezes, great views of the Atlantic and the perfect spot for shooting the sunset over Myrtle Beach.

No matter where you head on the picturesque Grand Strand, excellent photo opportunities await around nearly every corner. And once you’ve snapped all your faves, you can head back to your comfortable oceanfront accommodations at North Beach Plantation to post your vacation-image collection on your social accounts for all your friends to see.
