A Great new diner right on Ocean Boulevard and it even has an awesome view of the Atlantic – Welcome LuLu's Diner to Myrtle Beach.

The restaurant's hot pink tablecloths give it a nice caribbean flair.  Along with the walls and trim that have been painted Caribbean blue and hot pink and yellow, and the inset glowing ceiling has its stripes of lime green and pink, and the blue booths and black/chrome chairs are in place, it all works in a bright and beachy cheerful retro way. There's a cozy counter with round swivel-top stools under old-school suspended frosted glass lampshades.

The outside looks like classic retro 1950s futuristic style and on one side of the building stacks of shiny silver chairs await being placed on an open-air front patio overlooking boulevard action. Right now the plain white exterior is a sharp contrast to the colorful interior, but night lighting is going to cast a fun neon shadow.

The menu is extensive.
On the breakfast side there are egg plates, including two eggs with beef tenderloin, toast and grits for $6. Biscuits and gravy is $3.50, a bagel with salmon and cream cheese is $7, and beef filet and an egg on a bagel is $4.50. There are three-egg scrambles with lots of mix-ins (comes with grits, $6-$9) like the Green Eggs and Ham with pesto, tomatoes and fresh mozzarella; the Philly Cheese Steak with filet, cheese, peppers and onions; or the Down Home with country ham and collard greens.

Several versions of Eggs Benedict will be offered, like the HorryCountyBenedictwith fried bologna, fried egg and hollandaise sauce on toast for $6; or the Charleston Benedict for $9 that's topped with a crab cake. If you'd like a breakfast sandwich it can come on white, wheat or rye toast, like the BLTwith thick slices of hickory smoked bacon.

You can have plain waffles or Chicken and Waffles. Coan said she got the idea for Chicken and Waffles from a couple different diners, like the one Gladys Knight owns in Atlanta called Chicken and Waffles. There the chicken part is bone-in fried chicken on top of waffles, but Coan revised that idea to put highly seasoned fried chicken breast meat tenders on the waffles so the dish would be easier to eat.
Pancake choices include Chocoholic and Chunky Monkey (pecans and bananas). Lulu's French Toast is thick-sliced brioche coated with cobbler batter and topped with fruit and whipped cream; and the Banana Nut French Toast where instead of brioche they use banana nut bread.

Old-fashioned oatmeal served with apples, raisins and brown sugar ($3) is available along with Oatmeal Brule ($2.50) with its caramelized brown sugar crust.

On the lunch and dinner menu, appetizers ($4-$8) include Apple Slices with Nutella, Fried Pickles, Palmetto Cheese Dip, Firecracker Shrimp and Lowcountry Egg Rolls filled with country ham and collards. A handful of salads range from the House ($6) to Lulu's Salad ($10) with spinach, pecans, apples, goat cheese and grilled chicken.

Sandwiches ($5-$9) ranged from several peanut butter and jelly choices to grilled cheese with apple and brie, shrimp BLT, crab cake, and several burgers like The Golden Villa with Swiss cheese, grilled onions and 1,000 Islanddressing on rye. A trio of French fry baskets ($7.50-$8) include fish and chips, chicken fingers and fried shrimp.

Four entrees ($10-$14) come with potato and side salad: grilled or blackened fish, crab cakes, rosemary chicken or tenderloin medallions topped with crab meat. Seven children's selections ($2.50-$5) include both breakfast and lunch choices.

This is a great new addition to the beach.  Make sure to add it to your list for your next visit.
