Around these parts (and throughout the region, really), fall means football — and die-hard fans of the sport won’t let a little vacation get between them and catching their favorite team in action. And fortunately for visitors to the Grand Strand — whether they’re Tigers, Gamecocks, Steelers or Patriots — a great game-day environment and all the gridiron action are never too far away, thanks to some great sports bars in the area.

The next time your favorite team is set to take the field during your Grand Strand getaway, head for one of these five area venues to take in four quarters of good times with some like-minded football fanatics:

Wild Wing Café: With locations spread throughout the Southeast, this wings-and-beer chain features a Grand Strand location less than a mile inland from North Beach Plantation at Barefoot Landing. The establishment’s plentiful TV screens turn to football when game day arrives, and it’s likely that fans of your favorite team (and your least-favorite, too) will be among those who gather there for kickoff. The menu is wide-ranging with appetizers, soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches and burgers up for grabs, but the signature hot wings take center stage and can be slathered in your choice from among 33 made-from-scratch sauces. Plus, your pour options here are plentiful with 30 local and craft beers available.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Located just off Highway 17 North about 5 miles north of North Beach Plantation, this national chain specializing in hot wings and cold drinks is also a great place to catch the game. Loaded with flat-screen TVs showing all of game day’s biggest matchups, Buffalo Wild Wings attracts fans of every stripe as kickoff draws near. Wash down all the hard-hitting action with your choice from 20-plus wing flavors (including a wide range of hot wings, as well as unique offerings such as Salt & Vinegar, Parmesan Garlic, Thai Curry and Mango Habanero), plus 20 craft, domestic and import beers on tap. Of course, a variety of additional menu options are available, as are plentiful cocktail offerings.

Bumstead's Pub: Found in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach, this popular English pub is popular with American football fans in the fall — and for good reason. Featuring several big-screen TVs that are visible throughout the seating area, Bumstead's Pub also offers smaller TVs in each booth — so fans can tune into whichever game they choose. Bumstead's also serves up a tasty food menu — both from its own kitchen and the adjoining Dagwood’s Deli — and pours a wide selection of beers from around the world. On NFL Sundays, Bumstead's serves as the Grand Strand’s home turf for Washington Redskins fans.

Chuck & Duck's Sports Grill: Located on Celebrity Circle at Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment mecca Broadway at the Beach, this sports bar features a collection of 50-plus high-definition LED TVs, as well as a jumbo wall offering nine 50-inch TVs that can either show separate games or work together to give new meaning to “the big game.” Separate patios at the front and rear of the building provide great spots to relax in style, and the rear patio even features a fire pit for keeping warm when the fall weather brings a chill. The full menu at Chuck & Duck’s features starters like nachos, fried pickles and mozzarella sticks, as well as salads, burgers, sandwiches, baskets and wraps. A full bar is also offered.

King Street Grille: Offering a Grand Strand location at The Market Common, this Charleston-based chain of sports bars puts as much focus on the food as the games. The upscale menu offerings include unique appetizers like Mac & Cheese Egg Rolls and Pimento Cheese Balls, as well as salads, sandwiches, house-made burgers, and entrees like Asiago Crusted Chicken, 5 Herb Salmon and Sweet Tea Fried Chicken. Of course, extensive beer, wine and cocktail choices are also on tap. Grab a table in the dining room, where there isn't a seat in the house that doesn't face a TV, or post up at the bar for viewing multiple games at the same time. On sunny weekends, King Street opens up the patio so you can catch the game and some sun at the same time.

Of course, when staying at North Beach Plantation on the North Myrtle Beach oceanfront, you could always catch the game right in your spacious and comfortable room — then take in the sweeping ocean views from your room’s personal balcony before doing some lounging on our luxurious outdoor pool deck. Book your Myrtle Beach area getaway today, and get ready to catch all the action (and a heavy dose of relaxation) on the Grand Strand.
