You can't blame North Beach Plantation guests for wanting to spend a quiet night at the resort. After all, with all the on-site luxury accommodations and award-winning amenities, such as 21 Main Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, pools and swim-up bar and Cinzia Spa, it's understandable to relax at the finest resort on the Grand Strand.

However, you can't use the excuse that you can't find anything to do. There are great attractions, dining, shopping and nightlife all over the Strand, and one of the most popular gathering spots is just down the street from North Beach at Barefoot Landing. In addition to the Alabama Theatre, the House of Blues, and dozens of restaurants and shops, Barefoot Landing also provides free family entertainment throughout the summer months.

The complex hosts its annual Summerfest event, which features something for the whole family every night of the week through August. Among the festivities are a boardwalk parade led by roving entertainers like stilt-walkers, magicians, clowns, and even jugglers on unicycles and more. Here's the daily breakdown of Summerfest's events:

Monday: Viewers of the hit NBC show “America's Got Talent” will recognize this featured performer. Nick Pike puts on amazing display of comedy, juggling and unicycling to warm up the show, and jazz musician Don Colton will play the saxophone from 7 to 10 p.m. That's when the fireworks close the show with an awe-inspiring pyrotechnics display over Barefoot Lake. The fireworks are barely visible from the resort but you can get a good luck closer to the Barefoot complex.

Tuesday: Comedian/juggler/unicyclist Nick Pike gets things started again before Tim Peterman entertains the crowds on the steel drum. The highlight of the night, especially for the little ones, is Kids Karaoke hosted by DJ Larry Tanelli.

Wednesday: The little ones are the stars of the show on Hump Day with a round of Kids Karaoke with DJ Larry Tenelli. Children can pick out there songs and perform them before the assembled crowd as proud parents snap pictures and capture the moment on video. Don Colton also takes the stage to perform live jazz.

Thursday: Barefoot Landing takes on a Caribbean feel on Thursday nights with steel drums by Tim Peterman. Enjoy a tropical evening under the stars with live music and roving entertainment throughout the complex.

Friday: The music takes a more serious tone as Barefoot Landing kicks off the weekends with acoustic musician Justin Hoke on the main stage.

Saturday: Barefoot Landing goes all out for the little ones on Saturday nights with a meet and greet session with The Character Company's Super Heroes. Kids can get their pictures made with Superman, Spiderman and more while enjoying the triple-threat entertainment of Nick Pike.

Sunday: While the boys get a bigger kick out of Saturday's Super Hero Night, the girls get their chance on Sunday with a meet and greet session with the Princesses. There's also live jazz with Don Colton and Kids Karaoke on the bill.

In addition to all the free events available at Summerfest, Barefoot Landing also offers a wide range of fun activities and attractions and top-notch dining and shopping. Guests can also catch shows at the Alabama Theatre and House of Blues if you want to continue the live music theme, or take a ride down the Intracoastal Waterway aboard the Barefoot Princess. Enjoy dinner before the show at one of the many award-winning restaurants, such as Castano’s, Dick’s Last Resort, the Flying Fish Public Market & Grill, Umberto’s or Wild Wing Café, and shop until you drop at one of the 50-plus stores that make Barefoot Landing the place to be in the summertime.
