Located just a half-mile inland from North Beach Plantation – and reached via an easy, 3-minute drive straight up 48th Avenue South – the Barefoot Landing shopping, dining and entertainment complex has a little bit of everything for vacationers looking to have some fun. Set around a 27-acre lake and situated along the Intracoastal Waterway, the complex is already home to more than 40 retail shops, 25-plus restaurants, bars and snack shops, and a range of entertainment venues. And the list of reasons to visit Barefoot Landing is growing.

In the coming months and years, Barefoot Landing will be seeing a number of exciting new additions. During your next visit to the complex, keep your eyes open for some of these coming attractions:

Lucy Buffett’s LuLu’s: Scheduled to open in spring 2018, this 20,000-square-foot family destination will combine a 400-seat restaurant, an entertainment area hosting live music nightly, an arcade, a ropes-climbing course, a large beach area and “LuLu’s Shag Beach Bar.” With similar restaurants/entertainment venues already open in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Destin, Florida, the LuLu’s chain is owned by the sister of musician (and fellow restaurateur) Jimmy Buffett of “Margaritaville” fame. The laid-back restaurant’s menu offers such signature creations as the top-selling Crab Melt; the “Pa-Menna” Cheeseburger topped with pimento cheese, bacon and a fried green tomato; and a long list of frozen drinks, cocktails, and house beers and wines.

Dockside Village: LuLu’s will serve as the first component of a planned waterfront restaurant district at Barefoot Landing known as Dockside Village. The vision for the district, all set along the Intracoastal Waterway and highly walkable, calls for a collection of waterfront eateries offering a range of culinary options, all interspersed with plentiful and inviting common areas. The transformation, all taking place in the vicinity of the current Barefoot Landing restaurant Greg Norman Australian Grille, is expected to be completed over the next couple years.

Kentucky Mist Moonshine: Based in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky, this distillery with roots in the Prohibition Era is set to soon open tasting bars/gift shops in Barefoot Landing and at Myrtle Beach hot spot Broadway at the Beach. Moonshine flavors offered by the company include traditional “white lightning” moonshine Corn Mist, a sweeter Mist offering made with sugar cane, Apple Pie, Caramel Apple, Lemonade, and infused Apple, Blackberry, Cherry, Cranberry, Grape, Peach, and Strawberry varieties. The distillery also produces a line of vodkas, including traditional, barrel-aged and cranberry-flavored varieties.
