Found just inland from North Myrtle Beach near the North Carolina-South Carolina state line, Little River is a small fishing village with big flavors to share. And each year on the second weekend of October, the town puts its offerings on full display with its biggest event of the year — the Little River ShrimpFest.

Marking its 15th anniversary in 2019, the ShrimpFest is set for October 12-13 this year, and as usual, the festival lineup is loaded with fun activities and events for the entire family. The old-fashioned Southern street festival is held along Little River’s historic waterfront on Mineola and Waterfront avenues, which are blocked off so that festival-goers can stroll beneath the area’s moss-draped live oaks.

The two-day block party boasts food and drink booths (many, of course, serving up a range of shrimp dishes and other seafood delicacies), live music on two separate stages, more than 150 arts and crafts vendors, a children’s area with face painting, stilt walkers and balloon artists, and much more. Further, fishing boats and seafood restaurants line the nearby Intracoastal Waterway, and the festival atmosphere spills over into the surrounding downtown district.

The festival’s music lineup includes:

Saturday, October 12

Stage 1 (Front Gate):  Billy King, Eric Metts

Main Stage:  BackFire,  Craig Sorrells Project, Nathan & The Zydeco ChaCha’s

Side Stage:  Brian Ernst

Sunday, October 13

Stage 1 (Front Gate):  Alex Austin. Randy McQuay

Main Stage: Pet Monsters, Whisky Run, City Lights

 Side Stage: Brian Ernst

Admission to the Little River Shrimp Festival is $5 per person, per day at the entrance gate, and children 12 and under are admitted for free. For more info on the festival, visit the event website at littlerivershrimpfest.org.
