There are thousands of apps out there dedicated just to travel, and it’s always hard to decide which ones are worth the $0.99 or the space on your phone. Here’s a list of our favorites that you may find pretty nifty:
Trip Journal
With everything going on during a vacation, it’s usually pretty tough to find time to write things down. Later, of course, you’ll want to revisit memories from the trip and may find yourself unable to remember the name of the restaurant with the delicious soup or what city you took a day trip to. Trip Journal makes it easy to document your vacation, right on your phone. The app utilizes the map function on your phone and allows you to map the places you’ve visited. You can even geo-tag your photos, videos, and notes to that location. It also conveniently allows you to export your photos from the trip to Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and other sharing sites.
Postagram
In this day and age, most vacationers share their photos through social media sites, however you may have loved ones who have not yet entered the social media world. Postagram allows you to create a postcard with a photo taken on your phone, and then ships the physical postcard to anyone in the U.S., Canada or Europe. There is the standard mail charge, but the first five postcards are free!
TripAdvisor
TripAdvisor is one of the most popular travel apps, and we think it’s worth the hype. When searching for a hotel or flight through the app, it searches all online travel agent websites and allows you to choose and book the best option for you. Possibly the most useful thing the app offers is the ability to read millions of reviews of hotels, restaurants, and attractions from past travelers. You can see which restaurants have the most stars in the area, or search for a specific restaurant. The app also has a “Live View” function that allows you to view the restaurant or hotel.
