Head to North Myrtle Beach for Father/Son or Mother/Daughter Time

If you have a chance to spend some time one-on-one with one of your kids on a getaway, don’t pass on it!
Whether it’s mom and daughter, dad and son, or mom-son, dad-daughter, North Myrtle Beach is the place for quality time. And, whether it’s the two of you in the family, or you have many members, a getaway like this is sure to create memories. Here are some ideas for when you get here.
1. Visit Vereen Memorial Gardens
Are you aware Little River has a hiking and recreation trail? One with boardwalks in natural wetlands? You’re right on the Intracoastal Waterway, with access to a beach loaded with oyster shells. Bring your chairs and fishing poles and make a day of it. Admission is free.
ADVICE: Stop on the way in or out at Pizzeli’s Italian Oven. It’s a casual place nearby with the beach’s finest pizza. Try the White Pizza!
2. Bring Them to the Black Pearl Mini Golf
It might be time to remind your child where they get their talent from. (Or, it’s time that the student becomes the teacher!) Either way, head to this family-owned 18-hole course. It’s a nice, pirate-themed track that’ll lead to a swashbuckling good time. Especially with the candy shop and arcade.
ADVICE: Have fun. Black Pearl is a course kids will love (the candy helps!) Change rules for younger players, with some mulligans.
3. Make It a Movie Night
Dive into a hilarious comedy or heart-stopping thriller together. Go all out with popcorn and candy, too. Catching a blockbuster together even on vacation can be a fun time. AMC Classic Myrtle Beach 12 has all the latest flicks. It’s one of the area’s nicest, with clean theaters and excellent picture and sound.
ADVICE: A matinee is a great choice for younger kids. Older children, as you know, can be more night owls, so grab an afternoon coffee.
4. Have Lunch at Hamburger Joe’s
Which burgers are king in North Myrtle Beach? Many would vote for this joint, a down-home diner making a mean batch of chicken wings. Enjoy tasty burgers with a side of onion rings at a reasonable price.
ADVICE: Avoid the temptation of bringing out your phone for distraction. For either of you! Enjoy face time, regardless of age.
5. Go to the Gallery on Main for Some Art Appreciation
It might shock you that your child will enjoy a bit of gallery time, especially if you’ve never tried it. Sharing art together can give you perspective on your child’s mind. And give the children a glimpse of what is possible with imagination. The Gallery On Main offers workshops, too, to take together.
ADVICE: An hour or two is perfect. You can play a scavenger hunt (find art with a sun, a smile, or other common objects.)
