Myrtle Beach is known for its fun in the sun, but the real party starts after the sun goes down.

If you’re in your 20s, or your 30s and still living like it, Myrtle Beach has a thriving nightclub scene for those looking to hit the dance floor and have drinks with friends. Here are five local hot spots for the young and young at heart:

Celebrity Square: This Broadway at the Beach district boasts a dozen bars in a two-block stretch, perfect for pub crawling until you find the right spot for you and your crew. Sip frozen daiquiris at Fat Tuesday’s, go boot-scooting at Cowboys, sing along to hilarious songs at Crocodile Rocks, or dance the night away at Revolutions. Celebrity Square is like a mall of bars, and there’s a cab stand just behind the Hard Rock Café.

Hotel Blue: This downtown high-rise resort is home to the best adults-only pool party on the Grand Strand. Therapy, as the Sunday summer blast is called, is an all-day beach bash with live DJs, swimsuit contests and a swim-up bar. The party starts at noon and runs into the night as couples and singles sip frozen drinks and let loose like they were on spring break.

Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk: Known for its waterfront strip of seafood restaurants by day and early evening, the Marsh Walk turns into an aquatic pub crawl at night. The patio decks come alive with music at Bubba’s Love Shack and the Dead Dog Saloon, and the drinks flow freely at Wahoo’s and Creek Ratz. Caution: Most places close by midnight in Murrells Inlet.

Ocean Annie’s: Who says it has to be nighttime to enjoy nightlife? This indoor/outdoor beach bar at Sands Ocean Club is hopping day and night. The daily pool parties are legendary, with live music on the outdoor stage and bikini-clad patrons dancing on the pool deck. Cool off with a dip in the pool or a frozen drink from the poolside bar.

Plyler Park: The centerpiece of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is the place to go to get your night started. From 7 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday during the summer months, the Hot Summer Nights concert series features free live music on the downtown stage, as well as a fireworks show on Wednesdays. Stroll along the Boardwalk to other local beach bars in the downtown district, such as 8th Avenue Bar, Ocean View Café and Bandito’s Cantina.
