The best of the best. Yes, it’s subjective. But it sure is fun to figure it out – especially when getting to explore North Myrtle Beach.
Here are the ones we picked for all the key categories.
What does your list look like? Give these spots a try next time you’re on the Grand Strand. They got our attention.
Best Drinks
Flantasy Island Tiki Bar
It’s not so much a signature drink at this great little beach spot, but more the level of barkeeps in the house. Your cup will be filled heartily, and you’ll remember your bartender by name! Stellar drinks in the sun, with yummy food — yes, please!
Deckerz
It’s a cheerful bar and grill built for imbibing, with three outdoor decks, live music, and karaoke. Good environment with Southern hospitality and cold drinks all around.
Duck Dive Bar and Grill: It’s the great little dive bar you’ll want to make your regular place for here on out.

Best Appetizers
You needn’t go far for the best appetizers in North Myrtle: It’s right inside your resort! Anything you order will be tasty, and you’re in for an experience from the minute you walk in. Biggest hits include Beef Carpaccio, Calamari Fritti, and Oysters Rockefeller.
Flying Fish Public Market & Grill
There’s a festal feel here for seafood, with sushi and cocktails, too. Try the peel-and-eat shrimp, crab nigiri, or veggie roll.
Joe’s Bar and Grill: Cafe with saltwater marsh views and Stuffed Cajun Mushrooms.

Best Happy Hour
Buoys On The Boulevard
Visit this colorful seafood and burger joint for happy hour on the veranda. Quite possibly the best restaurant on the boulevard, and their happy hour rocks the house. Try a House Margarita with a plateful of wings, 4-7 daily.
The Grumpy Monk
One of those places you’re going to love and want to visit every time you’re in town. Get “Mom! The Riblets!” and a buck off 16-ounce drafts during happy hour.
CAPTAIN ARCHIE’S: This port is perfect for cold drinks (try Tito’s Lemonade) and happy appetizers (such as Steak Bites).

Best Entrees
The Shack
In a quaint cafe, you’ll find classic southern fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s the best place for home cooking in North Myrtle, with fast, efficient service. The gem: Mama Todd’s Dinner Special, customizable with a meat and as many as three sides.
Tidewater Grill
A bit classic, a bit creative, with burgers, drinks, and seafood (the crab cakes are phenomenal!) The gem: The Bluewater Burger. It’s a 7-ounce angus beef topped with homemade chili, jalapenos, bacon, onion, and mustard.
UMBERTO’S AT BAREFOOT LANDING: A Barefoot Landing favorite, this warm trattoria serves up an incredible Veal Antonio.
