Say Cheese — and Snap Some Uniquely Grand Strand Family Photos!

We all want to document our best vacations in photos, especially when the entire family is along for the trip. And nearly every popular vacation destination has its signature landmarks where, when your photo subjects pose in front of them, the location of your pictures is immediately recognizable — think the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and Central Park in New York City; the Alamo in San Antonio; and the giant mountainside “Hollywood” sign in Southern California.

The same can be said, of course, for the Grand Strand, where picturesque settings and iconic scenery can be found up and down our 60-mile stretch of the Carolina coast. The next time you and your family are looking to snap a few photos on your Grand Strand getaway (or even if you’re looking to take a top-shelf vacation selfie), head for these highly recognizable spots in the Myrtle Beach area:

The Beach/Ocean: As the Grand Strand’s biggest draw (both literally and figuratively), the Atlantic Ocean is also one of its top photo subjects. Snap a photo with the ocean’s blue waters in the background from the beach at sunset, from under your umbrella while lounging in the sand, or even from out in the waves (if you’ve got a waterproof camera, of course).

The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel: This 187-foot-tall Ferris wheel in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach serves as a great backdrop for your ground-level Grand Strand vacation photos. Or, if you want to take your pics to a higher level, hop on one of the SkyWheel’s 42 glass-enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas to get a bird’s-eye view of the ocean, the coastline, the Boardwalk and downtown Myrtle Beach.

The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade: This 1.2-mile wooden walkway runs right along the Atlantic from 14th Avenue North to 2nd Avenue North — and amazing ocean and downtown views can be found at nearly every step along the way.

Broadway at the Beach: This Myrtle Beach shopping/dining/entertainment hot spot offers 75-plus stores and shops for those in need of some retail therapy, and it’s not hard to find whatever food you might be craving with 40 restaurants, sweets shops, bakeries, etc. right on-site. The complex is also home to 20-plus fun family attractions — among them the Hollywood Wax Museum with its instantly recognizable (and quite picture-worthy) King Kong building capper.

The Murrells Inlet MarshWalk: Located on the southern end of the Grand Strand in the historic fishing village of Murrells Inlet and offering breathtaking views of a natural saltwater estuary, the MarshWalk features a half-mile wooden boardwalk overlooking a salt marsh and sprinkled with waterfront restaurants and bars. It’s a great spot to catch a sunset over a delicious meal — and, of course, to snap some great Grand Strand photos.

The 2nd Avenue Pier: Found at the southern terminus of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the 2nd Avenue Pier offers fishing, a restaurant, an open-air bar — and some million-dollar (and definitely photo-worthy) views from above the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Bonus points: The Cherry Grove Fishing Pier, which can be found 7.5 miles north of North Beach Plantation in North Myrtle Beach, stretches nearly 1,000 feet into the Atlantic and offers some great photo opportunities, too.

After visiting some of the Myrtle Beach area’s top landmarks for your vacation snapshots, head back to your comfortable oceanfront accommodations and wide-ranging amenities at North Beach Plantation to rest up for another great day of exploring the Grand Strand. No matter where your excursions take you, we’re ready to help you make some picture-perfect vacation memories during your Myrtle Beach area adventure. Book your Grand Strand getaway today!
